Our little pumpkin turned 4!
We opted for a Disney trip to celebrate the occasion, as organizing a little girl's party, with all her vision and hopes was beyond us at this point in time.
My parents joined us in LA for a fun weekend of Beaches and Minnie Mouse and lots of good food and lots of deserts to sing Happy Birthday with to the birthday girl.
This Fall promises to keep us very busy at the very least. All the excitement around the election, daily Violin practices on a box, and that pesky TV cable that was suddenly swallowed up by the wall and has kept me mesmerized for the past 3 nights watching Mr. Urban apply various methods to grab that sucker out!
We haven't yet visited a pumpkin patch this year, which seems to be a huge point of contention for our little girl. One that was not remedied by agreeing to buy over a dozen tiny pumpkins each time we visit Trader Joe's and displaying them all over the house.
Finally, earlier this week I decided that we should visit our local Farmer's stand and pick a huge pumpkin to carve, and therefore put the nagging issue to bed!
Of course upon getting to DeMartini's, my girl was quick to note that "this is not a real pumpkin patch!". "Yes, there is no putting anything past you dear!" said this UrbanMom. But all was forgotten when we piled the heaviest pumpkin we could manage into our trunk and drove home to a carving ceremony.
It took a while and some Google consulting to determine the exact pumpkin face that our girl had in mind for this Zigzag mouthed pumpkin. Incidentally, Four year olds seem to have a detailed vision and clear agenda for each and every task they embark upon and the will to see any project through to its end! They could make great CEO's...
And it was a good thing that we had Mr. Urban and his mother on hand on this particular evening as this pumpkin was a monstrosity to reckon with, especially if you have a huge belly coming between you and it!
I must say the pumpkin has thankfully turned into quite the beauty and has already joined our UrbanFamily very nicely...
