Chilling in the Heat

It already feels like summer with this heat wave and this laid back feeling that has descended upon us.  We spent a blissful hour in the bathroom this morning.  My big girl singing songs and floating in the tub.  My little one practicing her sitting in her empty bath tub.  And I, finally getting caught up on emails and news, right there on the cozy bathmat. Later we got ready for a tea party with a little friend.  The UrbanBigGirl made mini sandwiches with the precision of a world class chef, while her little sister happily looked on from her new Bumbo seat. The sandwiches were delicious.  The relaxing morning even more so!  I can get used to all this serenity... Hope you also enjoyed this wonderful Spring day!

Love and Loss

It is three thirty am.  The entire household is peacefully asleep. And yet sleep eludes me. My mind is filled with snapshots of a beautiful, meaningful, and incredibly sad and senseless day. I was privileged to attend a life celebration and memorial for a friend.  A vibrant, goodhearted, beautiful and brilliant and accomplished young woman.  An adored daughter.  Sister.  Wife. And mother to a beautiful baby girl.  A woman who inspires, even in spirit. The service was held at Stanford's Memorial Church, a magnificent place, wonderfully befitting of this celebration.  Of this mourning.  Every eulogy, including certain excerpts shared of her own writing, moved me beyond anything I have ever read or experienced.  And the sadness and the loss were palpable. As was the Love. Thank you Dear Friend, for all your gifts.
