It was a wonderful and relaxing weekend, despite everything. And by everything, I mean everything that could have made it terrible and trying, which I will spare you details of...
On Saturday afternoon, our girl and I attended the cutest, girliest birthday party, a Fantasy Tea Party. I must say I was just as dazzled and charmed as all the four and five year olds dressed up in feather boas and frilly tutu skirts and pinks hats that ladies who tea wear.
The beautiful tea party was held inside a pink and white outdoor tent, and tea (apple juice) was served in pink china as the ladies lounged around the long table adorned with a pink table clothe and sat on white chairs with pink satin sashes.
On Sunday we visited with friends we adore, who happen to be one of "those" couples! Tech entrepreneurs, informed and passionate about current affairs and various pop culture topics that are fun to discuss, accomplished world travelers and Xbox players (to our girl's utter delight) and most importantly gourmet chefs and foodies.
Lunch was juicy, braised Cornish Hens on an amazing sauce of parsnips, almonds, carrots and barberries, served with a side of cumin steamed rice. mmmm...
We ate and ate for so long that we lost track of time.
We were expecting Mr. Urban's friend from Romania and his new bride, a couple of very very young, very very beautiful and very very bright techie movers and shakers, for a visit at 4:00. We got in the house, just in the nick of time for a wonderful evening lounging around on the patio in candle light.
I think this world of ours has never been such an exciting place thanx to the Internet and advents in social networking and lower telecommunication costs perhaps, despite all the economical and security hardships. More than ever before we are all connected as people. People who love to eat, love to dance, love to read, love to create, love to connect, love to learn, love music... and no matter if you live in Bucharest or Manhattan or Dubai, experiences seem more similar than strange and differences seem so interesting that we are open to, if not eager to try each others' shoes. And that is a beautiful thing.
Fall forward meant waking up very early to sun light this morning. The three of us ventured out for a walk and marveled at the beauty of the country around us (although some of us did complain of the smell of fresh horse droppings)...
Hope this will be a great week, for us and for you!
